Costa del Sol

Costa del Sol

The Costa del Sol is Spain's most popular tourist destination. Its stunning mountains, and beautiful coastline add to the mild climate, which make it a fantastic place to live, or visit on holiday

The Costa del Sol is a fascinating place. Its Traditions are inherited from its Iberian, Roman and Moorish past and much of the Andulacian life-style, still lives to these traditions

It stretches along 150km of coastline, from Nerja down to Gibraltar.

Along the way is the bustling city of Malaga which is a genuine Andalucian city, mostly untouched by tourism - retaining much of the historic charm that comes from the Moors occupation up to the fifteenth century.

Further down the coast, passing the busy package holiday resort towns of Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola, all of which have their own charm, we arrive at Marbella. A busy town, which still retains its charming "Casco Antiguo", or "Old Town"

Passing Puerto Banús, a playground for the rich and famous, and on past San Pedro de Alcántara, a lovely Spanish town with a beautiful promenade stretching over a mile

Then we arrive at the town of Estepona. Estepona, which has a population of just over 50,000, is well known for it's bustling and atmospheric environment. It has kept the Andalucian charm, despite its growth in recent years.

The long promenade with its chiringuitos, or beach bars, is a popular walk, and a great place to watch the sun set

Set just back from the sea front is the "Old Town", with its many tapas bars and a beautiful square, amongst a perimeter of orange trees.

Heading down the coast are the beautiful white towns of Manilva and Casares.

Stretching down the coast, along some beautiful long beaches, and some more secluded coves you'll find Sabinillas, Duquesa, and Sotogrande.

The end of the Costa del Sol is at Gibraltar. The charm of the rock is in its history, with its many winding coast roads, its deep tunnels and it also it's nature reserve.
