Gibraltar
Gibraltar sits on the entrance to the Mediterranean, hence it's strategic importance. A British colony since 1704, it is connected to Spain by a sandy isthmus to La Línea.
With it's own international airport (of which you must cross the runway to enter Gibraltar), red telephone boxes and the British "bobby", it has a character of it's own.
While Gibraltar is part of the European Community, it is outside the Customs Union and so visitors can still enjoy duty free purchases.
Purchasing property in Gibraltar is slightly different from Spain, though we assist you with all this, it works slightly more along the lines of a British purchase.
Though, property in Gibraltar is at more of a premium than Spain, there is a very favourable tax situation that make it a very interesting place to invest.
With excellent connections now being available up the coast to the Costa del Sol resorts, and also now to Jerez and Seville, the airport connecting it to the UK, ferry connections to Morocco and of course, the all year round sun, Gibraltar is a surprisingly attractive place for property purchase.
